Cooper, Reyes Named Weekly Men's Basketball Award Winners

NEW YORK (Jan. 23, 2018) --- JoJo Cooper of Wagner in Division I and Justin Reyes of St. Thomas Aquinas in Divisions II-III have been named Men’s Players of the Week by the Met Basketball Writers Assn.

The designations, for games played Jan. 15-21, are unique in that they encompass players from 74 Met area schools across Divisions I, II and III.

A 6-0 senior guard from Wilmington, DE, Cooper --- who also was named Northeast Conference player of the week --- led the Seahawks (13-6) to a pair of NEC homecourt victories, first defeating St. Francis of Pennsylvania 73-64 and then downing Robert Morris 62-49.

Cooper totaled 17 points and 10 assists against St. Francis and then, against Robert Morris, recorded his sixth double-double of the season with 11 points and 12 rebounds. Further, he finished just two assists shy of posting a triple-double.

Playing in his 110th career game as a Seahawk, Cooper's 10 assists against St. Francis marked the 71st time that he has led or tied for the team lead in helpers, including 17 of 19 games this season.

A 6-4 senior guard-forward from Haverhill, MA, Reyes --- who also was named East Coast Conference player of the week --- sparked the Spartans (16-4) to a 2-0 week by averaging 27.5 points and 10.5 rebounds in a 98-74 victory at NYIT and a 103-93 homecourt triumph over LIU Post.

Reyes put up 20 points on 5-of-10 shooting from the field, along with six rebounds and five steals, in just 21 minutes of action against NYIT.

He registered his 10th double-double of the season against Post with 35 points on 60.8% shooting (14-of-23) from the floor along with 15 rebounds and five blocks. Reyes surpassed 1,000 rebounds for his STAC career in the game.
